As many of you might know, the iSchool at Pitt hosts a social hour every month. Since we are always trying to make every event bigger and better than the last, we went all out for our October Social Hour! The theme? Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival of course! So what exactly is a Chinese Mid-Autumn festival?  In China, it’s the traditional day where they express their thanks to the moon and celebrate the Fall harvest, alternatively it is known as the Moon Festival.

In our twist to celebrate this wonderful affair, we had a plethora of Chinese food and delicious moon cakes to go around, all set up in a festive room where Fall was the only thing on our minds. To top it all off, we had pumpkin carving! We all know that it’s not officially Fall until some scary looking pumpkins are carved. Finally, playing in tradition to our usual social hours, we ended the event after a huge round of karaoke. Students from the school showed their wide diversity singing songs in Hindi, Chinese, Spanish, Tamil, English– you name the language, we probably sang it! Check out all the fun below!
