I’ve just registered for the 2014 SAA (Society of American Archivists) Joint Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., August 10-16!

Initially, registration was slightly intimidating as there were a number of pre-conference sessions/workshops that were pricey. Beyond that, it was smooth sailing.

Much like the 2014 ALA Annual Conference, the website has a Schedule, in which you can add sessions, meetings, or workshops to your personal itinerary. However, the SAA Schedule also allows you to update a profile with your information and links to social network accounts!

Thoughts so far:

  • Registration cost is reasonable (Student Rate: $139)
  • Location (Washington, DC) is perfect
  • The Schedule tool on the SAA conference website is intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and allows syncs with social network accounts
  • SAA conference website also has hotel, transportation, and other important information on an Opportunities Await – and Abound! page
  • SAA has secured a block of tickets to the Nationals/Pirates Baseball Game on Saturday, August 16th at 7:05 PM. Must purchase your ticket ($26) from the SAA website by July 16th to reserve your seat!
  • And, wide array of sessions! Huzzah for variety!!
