Welcome to the newly located blog! I know I haven’t posted in a while, it’s so difficult to find time when there is so much going on in School and at work. Alas, the office here has returned to normal and finals are almost over (the weather stopped being crazy too). With the sun out, Pittsburgh is buzzing with more activities than ever!
Here are some things to look forward to over the next few weeks at Pittsburgh:
If you haven’t had the time to explore or if you are new to the city, this would be perfect to get acquainted with the ‘Burgh! The Tour departs from Station Square and travels to all the popular areas of the City along with a guide to give you all details on the city’s diverse historic background. Become a tourist for a day and be ready to be fascinated!
All Pittsburgh residents know of the iconic Phipps Conservatory located at the heart of Oakland. If you haven’t been there already, this should be a top priority visit! There’s no better time to schedule visit than the Butterfly season accompanied with the array of the beautiful Summer Flowers display. Bonus, all Pitt student have free admission when they provide their Student ID cards! Relax and grab a bite to eat at Schneley Park afterwards.
Do you love Dinosaurs? Do you like History? Then this is for you. You might want to go soon as the display ends on May 22nd! Once again, all Pitt student get free admission with their Student ID card. It’s perfect, isn’t it?!
4. The Pittsburgh Marathon– May 1st
So, unfortunately, registrations for running the marathon are closed but, you could still volunteer to help with the event! You can also cheer on the runners and attend a Marathon festival at Point Breeze. Come, check out all the excitement at this annual event!
If you love to bike, or if you would like to go out and get some exercise while sight seeing the city, then come and bike the Burgh! A perfect summer time activity for everyone. You can also rent a bicycle if you don’t have one of your own!
Pittsburgh is known for it vibrant and rich history in art. This happens to one of the many art exhibitions that will take place this summer. The Frick Art & Historical Center currently has on display the work of photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue, on of the earliest photographers from the 1960s. Hurry soon! The exhibition closes on May 15th.
This amazing all star cirque event includes aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, balancers and strongmen! Be prepared to be mesmerized. They are performing over only one weekend at the Heinz theater next week! It’s a perfect event to unwind after the stress of finals! Get your tickets soon.
In addition, keep checking the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra website for more exciting events this summer season! I can guarantee that there will be something that interests you! They constantly rotate through tons of new and exciting shows and they are not all orchestra events.
Delicious Food. That’s all you need to know.
These are just a few events that popped out to me, you can find many more events happening in and out of the city here. Also, check out all fun downtown events here. Since its baseball season, maybe you could also go to a game or two and cheer on our Pittsburgh Pirates!
Go out, absorb some healthy vitamin D, and enjoy the upcoming summer season!
I will also attempt to stick to my summer resolution and update the blog more often 🙂
