Ohiopyle!

Last weekend, I went to Ohiopyle State Park with the iSchool. It was really great spending time with people I don’t see normally (different programs). We went bike riding, sat by the water (after climbing down a bunch of trees and rocks) walked around the town of Ohiopyle, and ate…a lot. Luckily, we came the weekend of the town’s Fall Buckwheat Festival, which a resident described as sort of a homecoming/reunion for folks who moved away from the town. It was filled with music, food, and vendors. I even met a fellow Marylander that sold amazing popcorn!

When I came to Pittsburgh, I decided I was going to experience everything! It’s always a good idea to take advantage of the awesome attractions and sites around you. Ohiopyle was beautiful. It is a great place to get away from school and get in touch with nature (seriously…there’s no 4G out there). A much needed break!

Thanks, Priya for the awesome photo! Of course, her friend, Abhinav, is taking the picture…but it’s her camera 🙂

Last Friday was my graduation recognition ceremony and this week is officially my last week of classes, work, and interning. I am wrapping up papers and projects, and packing my graduate life away into boxes and duffel bags.

While I continue to live a graduate student life and step into life as a graduate, I can’t help but feel as if this has all been some kind of surreal dream. This past year has gone by too fast, but it has been quite the ride. I have no idea what next year, next month, or even next week will bring, but I know that I have learned both inside and outside of the classroom, and found enduring friendships.

Incoming and returning graduate students: best of luck and enjoy every moment of it.

Cheers!

Halfway Point

Spring Break (next week, woo hoo!) marks the official halfway point of my time here at the iSchool. Its flown by! It seems like just yesterday I was sitting on the patio at the New Student Orientation Picnic, taking in all of the orientation material and new school excitement.

After 7 months, it is clear that I have learned a great deal through my classes and work experiences, as well as made some pretty interesting and amazing friends. I am now planning my summer courses, and searching for job openings! Though its not the same new school excitement, its a more subtle, new life experience excitement. Looking forward to taking my degree into the working world!
